Description
This slow cooker BBQ chicken is tender, flavorful, and incredibly easy to make. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps, or over rice!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite variety)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts directly into the bottom of your crockpot. No need to cut them — they’ll shred easily once cooked.
- Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Pour and Coat: Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure all the pieces are coated. Use a spoon or spatula to gently spread the sauce if needed.
- Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours. The chicken should be fully cooked and fork-tender when done.
- Shred the Chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir it into the remaining sauce for maximum flavor.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm on sandwich buns, in wraps, over rice, or on top of baked potatoes. Add coleslaw for a classic Southern touch.
